Guided with a loving team
“I had the privilege of working with Lisa Brown for a year. Lisa embodies what it means to provide compassionate, client centered care to individuals struggling to navigate the world of addiction, mental illness, and recovery. Both in the her roles as a program director and clinical counselor, I have seen Lisa empowering clients to ultimately make their own goals and decide what their life and recovery will look like, while being guided with a loving team of support behind them.
In my experience, both in recovery myself and working in the field, I believe we need more people like Lisa who will be true allies for people who are struggling with this disease.”

My unique experience
“Lisa’s empathy, grace and gentle guidance are not only unparalleled in the field, but were an indispensable part of my journey to recovery. By respecting my unique experience and allowing me to find a recovery path that works for me, Lisa created a space in which I was able to heal, find my voice and recover my true self.”

“Roger was my sober companion immediately after rehab. I know that I would not be sober today if it weren’t for Rogers care and guidance. I think the days and early weeks after rehab are when you find yourself the most vulnerable. We hit 12 step meetings, read the big book, and above all he kept me accountable. Drug testing and breathalyzer twice a day. Going on 2 plus years of sobriety and I couldn’t have done it without him.”

“Helping others is something Lisa was born to do. She has this natural ability to hear and empathize with all of the people she interacts with, in a way that makes them feel understood and acknowledged. She is creative with her clients and truly works to find an approach that works for them, as she knows the importance of meeting each person where they are at. Her heart and passion for the field is greater than I have seen in anyone I have worked with, and it is visible the impact and benefit she has on those who work with her. There is no person I would trust more with the care of my family or loved one, than the trust I have in Lisa.”

“Having worked in partnership with numerous drug and alcohol treatment centers in Minnesota, I have seen a wide range of programs, facilities, ethical standards and levels of connection and engagement from those who dedicate their lives to embracing and rebuilding the lives of others.
Lisa Brown was one of the first that I truly was moved by, her level of engagement, concern, depth of expertise and compassion moved me the very first encounter I had with her.
Her energy and spirit light up not only every room she walks in, but every soul she interacts with.
Regardless of the level of addiction someone is experiencing, Lisa gives everyone her undivided attention and commitment to discovering an individual plan best suited for their unique needs. She’s truly a superstar not only in this industry but as a human being.
Her experience in an array of settings and situations had proven her God given talents are unparalleled on the many levels and layers that partake in the recovery process. I’m so thankful Lisa shares her gift of compassion and healing with so many on a daily basis. What a gift.”

“My husband and I met in treatment. We used to joke about how our kids would go to treatment instead of camp. But when that was actually our reality, there was really nothing funny about it. Two of our three kids needed treatment.
It has been an incredibly long road. Treatment programs, both inpatient and outpatient, halfway houses and sober houses. Some successes and some failures. But meeting Merciful Recovery Services has been a godsend. The knowledge, the passion and compassion they have has brought us peace in so many ways.
The number of times I have sat outside my son’s bedroom door hearing him in pain and discomfort as he detoxes, only to have him leave a day or two later to disappear for months is countless. The overwhelming relief I had when I learned that there was such a thing as a sober companion. Someone who would take that burden away. Someone who would stay with my son every minute and help him get through the tough times. What a gift and overwhelming sense of relief that brought to us.
When my son left treatment, a sober home was not a good fit for him. Merciful Recovery Services has worked with him in so many ways with more support than he would have found in a sober living situation. With one on one meetings at his home, going out to lunch, working out and going to AA meetings. They have helped with meds, making sure he is taking them when he needs to take them. And making sure that what he is taking is right for him. Truly, every aspect of his recovery is covered. Even helping him with organization at home. I am confident in both my sons’ recovery now that M. R. S. is part of their recovery. They have taken all the guess work out of their recovery for my husband and I. We don’t have to worry about all these things that we had to worry about before. With their help we can just be parents and know that they are in the best of hands.”

“We have known Lisa and Roger Brown in multiple capacities for almost 2 years. They have worked with both our young adult son and our family as a whole. For a year and a half, Lisa managed his overall care, evaluating his well-being regularly, which fluctuated radically and required intervention by psychiatrists, medical professionals or us as his parents. As his individual counselor, and voice of reason, she helped him think through consequences when he needed it. Lisa understands the complex issues of substance abuse disorders and related compulsive disorders, how shame, trauma and life play into this mix and she is an empathic soul mixed with a voice of reason that her clients need.
As the counselor charged with trying to stay one step ahead of the unpredictable nature of our son’s struggles with a very complex mix of disorders and resulting behaviors, Lisa’s job was not easy. She was able to help our son, with compassion, to move forward when he didn’t think he could and to establish trust, a very difficult task. She is the angel who helped us, his parents, sleep better at night.
Roger, too, was able to make us and our son feel safe especially when travel was called for. Our son knew that he could call on Roger if he needed him as a source of stability, safety and reason. We have and will continue to entrust our family to Lisa and Roger Brown and to Merciful Recovery Services and would highly recommend them to other families.”
